Please continue to take the following actions:
Call & Email the Governor: 410-974-3901 or 1-800-811-8336 Email Governor O’Malley
Tell the Governor, and your Delegates that you oppose SB 281/HB 294 in any form. Short and to the point works best.
The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. George Orwell, 1984
WOW – it was almost too easy for the Senate to pass our socially responsible gun safety legislation, with a 28 to 19 vote. And passage in the House is a fait accompli. All we have to do is endure those pesky anti-legislation trolls for a few more days, and it will be done!
As you can see, only a tiny number of people showed up for the Senate hearing rally.
According to Ammoland, a frothing at the mouth gun lovers site:
We made history with the size of our Rally on February 6th, which by various estimates was between 3 and 4 thousand strong. On Friday, March 1, 2013 we made history again by participating in the longest Committee hearing in Maryland history.
Yeah, we heard all about it. We had our peeps out in full force too!
By way of contrast, the anti-gun rally on the 1st was rather pathetic with approximately 200-300 persons attending; many were school children who were bussed in and left immediately after the anti-gun rally.
A fierce opponent of guns, baby testifies at hearing. Bwa Bwa Bwa means we need strong gun laws!
So what if we had skool children? We do what we have to do! They are a ready source of warm bodies, are already contained, and love a day off from school. Besides, it’s hard to find adults willing to
get paid take off from sleeping and tee vee to go down to Annapolis. I mean, it really screws up their unemployment checks.
A total of 1,339 citizens signed up to testify on the bill. The anti-gun crowd had 32 people testifying for the bill and we had 1,307 Patriots, many of whom were willing to stay until 3:45 in the morning to testify against the bill.
Governor O’Malley repeated the same lie that 85% of Marylanders support the gun ban. Vinnie DeMarco of Marylanders to Prevent Gun Violence bragged about 8,000 contacts with the Maryland General Assembly.
Sen. Nathaniel J. McFadden (D-Baltimore) said the Senate was rightly focused on gun-control measures that would help prevent not just massacres, but also the daily gun violence that kills too many youths in Baltimore and Prince George’s County.
“(Snip) somehow these guns find their way into our communities . . . They come from somewhere, and you can get a gun quicker than you get an apple or an orange in my community. It’s outrageous, and we have to start somewhere.”
Do you believe that? Guns are quicker to get than getting apples or oranges?
I knew you could get grenades in produce, but I hadn’t heard about guns.
